Monovid and Variovid Shooting
Target them exactly
THE SHOOTING SERIES
For all fans of indoor and outdoor shooting, Leica Eyecare has developed two versions of the Shooting lenses, each tailored to its specific application: the Shooting Outside and Shooting Inside lenses. With their unique designs and specific tints, these two lens types are available in both single vision and progressive versions.
Sight, focus – and shot!
Shooting sports can be particularly stress for the eyes. Whether you’re shooting a handgun at a target 12, 15 or 18 metres in front of you, aiming your rifle at an object 55 to 75 metres away or pointing an arrow at a bull’s-eye 40 metres in the distance, shooting requires your eyes to accommodate continuously, more so than any other comparable sport.
Monovid Shooting single vision lenses are perfectly designed for the specific requirements of marksmen who have astigmatism, myopia or hyperopia.
For marksmen with presbyopia, Variovid Shooting progressive lenses can optimize sighting, whether it’s for lining up the eye, arrow and target in archery or the front and rear sights of a handgun.
Shooting, a high-precision lens
The lenses of the Shooting series offer the benefit of a fully customized design that takes the marksman’s visual needs into account. The exclusive Free-Form design combines precision, visual acuity and comfort.
Leica Eyecare’s procedures for manufacturing lenses enable measuring accuracy that is twice as high as current standards. Leica Eyecare lenses are produced in steps of 1/8 dioptre and not the usual 1/4 dioptre, which results in incomparable precision and increased comfort for the wearer.
Because precision isn’t possible without high standards, quality assurance at Leica Eyecare is also breaking new ground: threefold quality assurance certifies geometry, lens thickness and the quality of the surface treatment.
Optimized contrasts for indoor and outdoor
Lighting has a major impact on the perception of shapes and colours in the sport of shooting, which is why Leica Eyecare has developed two special tints that accommodate the differing requirements of different lighting conditions.
Shooting Inside: the yellow tint improves contrasts and colours in artificial lighting.
Shooting Outside: the khaki tint and the anti-UV coating with 76% absorption of the Shooting Outside lenses protect your eyes from bright light and improve the perception of contrasts.
Fast and smooth transitions
Variovid Shooting lenses feature the exclusive New Spherical Equivalence (NSE) technology, which enables exceptionally smooth transitions between distance vision, medium distances and near vision.
These smooth and fast transitions also apply to the horizontal axis, with expanded peripheral vision.
The interplay of these characteristics makes Variovid Shooting lenses the ideal companion for marksmen with presbyopia who shoot at moving targets.
Coating and surface treatment
Thanks to Leica Eyecare’s Aquadura® Vision Pro coating, Shooting lenses are both water-resistant and antistatic and boast an anti-reflection effect that’s especially effective for shooting.
The Aquadura® coating technology has been used for decades primarily to protect Leica binoculars, whose optical components are subjected to the effects of water, dirt and damage.
