Revolution of the equations
The calculation of the VARIOVID VOLTERRA design is based on the mathematical algorithm of Vito Volterra, Italian mathematician (1860-1940). The application of the Volterra series has been used in many fields: artificial intelligence, electronics, applied physics … For the first time, Leica Eyecare engineers have applied it in the field of optics. Leica Eyecare is revolutionizing the production of progressive lenses by creating the first system for linearizing optical distortions: EO-TECH technology.
The Variovid Volterra range is available for two lens designs:

– The Variovid Volterra Continuum, fully customized version of the Variovid Volterra

ÉO-TECH technology
This revolutionary technology reduces optical aberrations by 50% to 65%. By applying the mathematical series of Vito Volterra (Italian mathematician 1860-1940) in the calculation of lens design (the Volterra series have been mainly used in other areas – such as acoustics) we have created the first “equalizer” of optical surfaces, which gives wearers the feeling of wearing single vision lenses.
Coating and surface treatment
The lenses of the Variovid Volterra series feature the Aquadura® Vision Pro coating. The Aquadura® coating technology has been used for decades primarily to protect Leica binoculars, whose optical components are subjected to the effects of water, dirt and damage. This comprehensive protective coating is now also used on Variovid lenses for the first time.
The exclusive Leica Eyecare warranty
Leica Eyecare frees you from the everyday concerns of a spectacle wearer. For the first year from the date of purchase, the entire Leica Eyecare Series has an anti-scratch guarantee. Wearers of progressive lenses will also receive replacement lenses in the event of breakage, theft or loss within 72 hours no matter where in Europe. An adaptation guarantee over six months after receiving your lenses is also part of the extensive warranty package.

The standards of the quality levels and inspection procedures introduced by Leica Eyecare are 20% higher than applicable European standards.
The lens manufacturing procedures enable measuring accuracy that is 100% higher than current standards, thus minimizing eye fatigue for the wearer.
