MYKITA & LEICA

Designed in collaboration with Leica and handcrafted at the MYKITA HAUS in Berlin, the MYKITA | LEICA collection is defined by its reduced, functional design focused on superior performance. Seamless mechanical solutions and material connections echo the beautiful precision engineering of Leica’s iconic products and create a refined eyewear aesthetic.

Signature elements from the Leica design language will resonate with brand enthusiasts while forming a new, standalone eyewear aesthetic: the geometric lens shape is a recurring theme, a reference to the frontal view of a Leica camera lens hood, or the distinctive lacquering inlays and the Leica font for the temple inscription, and ultimately the reduced colour palette made up of matt silver, black, taupe grey and red accents.

LENS TECHNOLOGY
To create sunglasses with uncompromising quality and clarity of vision, MYKITA and Leica have pioneered sun lenses with optical grade quality. The organic lenses are ground and polished from a cast lens blank in a process normally reserved for prescription lenses. The lens is also distinguished by the specially developed AquaDura® Vision Pro coating, adapted from the field of sport optics and professional photography.

This achromatic anti-reflective coating provides invisible protection against rear reflections without the usual colour sheen. It protects against water, dirt and damage, preventing fogging and facilitating effortless removal of fingerprints and stains. All lenses offer complete UV protection; polarized lenses filter harmful light components, such as glare and surface reflections.

VARIOVID VOLTERRA, SILMO D’OR 2019

Leica Eyecare is proud to announce the launch of its new VARIOVID VOLTERRA progressive lens with ÉO-TECH Technology.

Leica Eyecare will revolutionize the visual comfort of all “presbyopic people”. This extraordinary lens comes from an advanced calculation method of the Freeform surfaces, after several years of internal development

How did we finalize the Design of the lens? By applying the mathematical series of Vito Volterra (Italian mathematician 1860-1940) in the calculation of lens design. The Volterra series have been mainly used in other areas (such as acoustics), but have never been used in optics. We have created the first “equalizer” of optical surfaces, which gives wearers the feeling of wearing single vision lenses.

This disruptive and revolutionary technology reduces optical aberrations by 50% to 65%.

On the occasion of the first presentation of the lens, we were proudly awarded the highest award in the optical industry as confirmation. The Silmo d’Or 2019

MCLAREN IS LAUNCHING ITS EYEWEAR COLLECTION

« Designers from McLaren Automotive and the L’Amy Group combined their expertise to create unique products that set new standards for elite eyewear. Using industry-first technologies such as 3D-printed titanium frames and Leica sun lenses, the McLaren Vision Collection epitomises the design innovation and pioneering technical excellence that is at the core of the McLaren brand’s DNA. »
Mike Flewitt, Chief Executive Officer, McLaren Automotive

The sunglasses in the McLaren Vision Collection are the first to use Leica Eyecare sun lenses, which are treated with AquaDura Vision anti-reflective, hydrophobic and oleophobic coating and feature Leica Eyecare’s latest lens technology to ensure exceptional clarity. Each of the five sun lens types is customised for a specific environment; the Driving lenses, for example, feature very precise graduated tinting that is designed to improve contrasts and show the road ahead in sharp relief. There is no polarisation so all surfaces are perceived perfectly. Orange-tinted Golfing lenses focus on maximum contrast, while the Outdoor lenses have a polarising filter and mirror finish. Urban lenses have a neutral gradient tint designed for all lighting conditions and easy reading of screens, while the Yachting lenses feature a mirror finish to reduce solar rays and polarisation to better remove reflections from the water.

THE END OF PROGRESSIVE LENS 01.07.2019

Leica Eyecare and Novacel would like to revolutionize the vision of all people facing presbyopia.
Novacel will launch a new ophthalmic lens specially designed for wearers with presbyopia under its Leica license.
This new lens design originates from a new calculating method of the Free Form surfaces, which Novacel has just patented after several years of internal development.
This new approach allows for an innovative design with the benefits of a progressive lens, but with the comfort and the visual perception of a single vision lens.
Any doubts? In addition to a detailed explanation, Novacel will initially invite their main opticians to try this innovative lens and to share their impressions on the social networks of Novacel and Leica Eyecare starting July 1st 2019.
The lens will then be officially presented and offered for sale at the SILMO 2019.
This date coincides in time with Novacel’s 25th anniversary.
